Family Planning & Women’s Health Clinic

Clay County Public Health Center’s Family Planning Clinic wants to help you in making healthy choices about the right time to have children. We offer family planning and reproductive health services for women, teens, as well as limited services for men.

Our staff is made up of experienced, skilled, health care providers who are dedicated to providing you with compassionate, caring and cost effective services.

Services Provided

  • PAP smear screenings and referral for abnormal results (an initial pap smear is not recommended until age 21)
  • Breast exams and mammogram referrals
  • Free breast and cervical cancer screenings through the Show Me Healthy Women program for income and age eligible women
  • Birth control
  • Referrals for Long Acting Reversible Contraception (IUD, Implant)
  • HIV and STD testing and treatment
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Diagnosis and treatment of vaginal infections
  • IUD removal
  • Counseling and Education provided
  • Limited Services are Available for men, which include: physical exam for symptoms of STDs including genital warts and herpes (Treatment if your partner has tested positive for Trichomoniasis, and HIV/STD testing and treatment)

Please Note

  • If you need a Pap smear or exam for a vaginal infection, do not douche, use vaginal medication, or have sexual intercourse for 24 hours before your appointment.
  • Antibiotics can cause Gonorrhea and Chlamydia test results to be inaccurate. Please wait three weeks after you have finished antibiotics to be tested for Gonorrhea and/or Chlamydia.
  • Please do not urinate for 1 hour prior to testing for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia.
  • It is important to be honest about your sexual behavior even though it may be embarrassing. The information you provide to us will help us give you the best care possible, and it will not be shared with anyone else unless permission is given.

Clinic Hours

Family Planning and Women’s Health visits  with nurse practitioner
are by appointment Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Some extended hours are available. These hours are subject to change without notice.

Payment is expected at the time of your visit. We accept most major insurance plans and Medicaid. Fees for some office visits are based on family size and income (major insurers may pay all or part of the cost) and vary depending on the services provided. Please view the
