Show Me Healthy Women (SMHW) is a program in Missouri that provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings for women meeting certain age, and income guidelines. SMHW is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and several national, regional and local partner organizations.
Qualifications for Show Me Healthy Women
To be eligible for SMHW services, women must meet ALL of the following guidelines:
Income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level for household income
No insurance to cover program services
Do not forget to bring proof of income and ID if enrolled in the Show Me Healthy Women program.
For those who qualify, SMHW will pay for a clinical breast exam, Pap test and pelvic exam. If any cervical abnormalities are detected on your Pap smear, SMHW will also pay for further diagnostic tests. SMHW also covers the cost of an annual mammogram for women 50-64. If any breast abnormalities are found, SMHW will cover the cost of additional breast diagnostic tests or breast-related follow-up visits, including treatment for breast or cervical cancer if diagnosed after screening through this program.
