Racism & Health Inequity

MOCPHE Statement

From Director of Public Health Gary E. Zaborac: “I fully support the principles of community outlined in the policy position from the Missouri Center of Public Health Excellence (MOCPHE), of which I am a member and serve on the Board of Directors. Here at Clay County Public Health Center, I also fully support the continued work of our Health Equity subcommittee and pledge my support to ensure health equity is ingrained into the fabric of our organization. We must not only acknowledge the deep roots of racism and social inequity that exist, but we must also move into action both as an organization and as individuals to end them.”

From the CCPHC Health Equity subcommittee: “We are continuing work to develop a Health Equity Road Map for the organization including opportunities for staff training and dialogue, updating policy, and incorporating health equity into community work. COVID-19 disrupted a lot of health department activities but it is important to urgently continue making progress towards reflecting on our own biases, learning about injustices facing the people we serve, and taking steps to create a more equitable community.”
