Immunization Clinics at Schools

Every semester, Clay County Public Health Center staff visit local schools to provide vaccination to middle and high schoolers, with parent/guardian permission. This can be a win-win for families, as it prevents adults from taking time off work and students from missing significant class time to attend an appointment.

Vaccines offered include ones needed for the next school year, plus extra protection options like flu and HPV.

For middle school clinics, only ages 11-14 years are eligible. For high school clinics, only ages 16 years and over are eligible.

Prepare for Clinic

On the day of their clinic, students should:

  • Wear a short sleeve shirt or layers (so the upper arms are easy to access)
  • Eat breakfast or lunch
  • Be well hydrated

A registered student may not be seen if they are not on campus during the hours of the clinic.

Payment

Clay County Public Health Center accepts and will bill most major insurance plans including Medicaid. For students that DO have any type of insurance coverage, please provide this information on the registration form. Failure to do so may result in a delay of scheduling the student for requested immunizations.

Students without insurance, out-of-network insurance, or insurance that doesn’t pay for vaccines can also receive the vaccine at no cost during school immunization clinics.
