Breastfeeding Support for WIC Clients


Are you a WIC client looking for assistance with breastfeeding? Have questions that you would love to ask a WIC staff member about?

During our regular business hours -- Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. -- call 816-595-4293 to speak with a breastfeeding peer counselor.

We are now offering an after-hours breastfeeding support line for WIC clients who have breastfeeding questions while the health center is closed. Please call the number above and one of our staff members will be happy to speak with you.

Join our group dedicated to sharing evidenced-based education, support, and encouragement to breastfeeding Clay County mothers! Our WIC lactation consultants regularly share videos, articles, resources and more regarding a variety of breastfeeding topics.

Breastfeeding Events


Breastfeeding Encouragement Group


  • 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month; 1-3 p.m.
  • Currently, these classes are being held virtually, through the video platform Teams. Make sure you receive the link to join by filling out the registration form by 4 p.m. the day before the next event.
  • For pregnant women, breastfeeding moms/babies and breastfeeding advocates, walk-ins welcome.

Breastfeeding 101 


  • Last Wednesday of every month at 10:30 a.m.
  • Currently, these classes are being held virtually, through the video platform Teams. Make sure you receive the link to join by filling out the registration form by 4 p.m. the day before the class you wish to attend.
  • Get answers to your breastfeeding questions!
  • All prenatal and expecting moms are welcome. Bring dad or your support person too.

World Breastfeeding Week Celebration


  • Every year, during the first week of August, we celebrate Breastfeeding Week with a party at the health center.
  • In 2020, our celebration was held via Facebook Live. You can still be a part of the fun by checking it out here.

-$20 non-refundable fee

Manual Pumps - FREE

-Great for occasional use

Medicaid and private insurance may also provide you a breast pump. Check with your individual plan.
