Food Managers
A food manager must obtain an ANSI-CFP accredited Food Protection Manager Certification within 60 days of being hired as a manager or person in charge. Food Manager Certificates are valid for five years.
Option 1: Take a class at Clay County Public Health Center
Clay County Public Health Center has certified instructors and proctors that deliver the ServSafe course and exam on a monthly basis at our location at 800 Haines Dr., Liberty, MO 64068.
Register: At least two weeks before the class you want to attend, call 816-595-4350 to schedule yourself or an employee for a class and exam. If a book needs to be purchased, you must come to the health center to sign up for the class. Fees for the class, book and/or exam are due at the time of registration and are non-refundable.
Take the class: Class begins at 8 a.m. Please arrive 20 minutes before class begins for check-in. Photo I.D. is required at check-in. There will be a break for lunch; lunch is on your own. The class will end at 5 p.m.
Option 1.5: Take a test at Clay County Public Health Center
This new option is for individuals who need to be re-certified (have already received a food manager certificate) and do not need to sit through the class.
- You must pre-register by calling 816-595-4350 and requesting exam only. See the latest manager class schedule above.
- Arrive at Clay County Public Health Center on the day of the class between 1-1:15 p.m. Check in with the Environmental Health Section with a photo I.D.
- Fee for re-certification is $45.
Option 2: Take an online course or a course with another organization
The following courses are accepted by Clay County Public Health Center for a Certified Food Manager 5-Year course.
